Be Careful On SOUTH BEACH FOLKS

In an effort to control crowds during Memorial Day weekend this year, Miami Beach Police said they will increase their presence in and around South Beach, The Miami Herald reported.

“What we’re trying to control is just the volume [of people.] We reach a breaking point that we just can’t handle,” Miami Beach Police Chief Raymond Martinez was quoted as saying.
In addition to putting paired officers on street corners, some new technological measures include cameras atop towers that enable police to review footage, as well as new license plate scanners that will check vehicle plates in a database.
"The tag reader is only going to flag if it's a stolen car or a stolen tag, or if the registered owner has a criminal warrant," Lt. Eduardo Yero said. "This will not go after minor warrants, traffic violations, things like that."

Police will also hold a DUI checkpoint on the MacArthur Causeway Friday night, the newspaper said.  To control traffic, Ocean Drive will be closed through the weekend and Collins and Washington avenues will become one-way northbound and southbound roads, respectively.
Police expect to make more than the 1,010 arrests they made in 2006, according to the Herald.
Memorial Day is Monday, May 28.  Last year, 22-year-old Boynton Beach man Raymond Herisse was killed after several officers opened fire on his car. Then-police chief Carlos Noriega said Herisse had tried to hit officers with his car.  As a result, several agencies, including the U.S. Department of Justice, will be monitoring this year's event. The co-founder of the Take Back SoBe movement also said they will be watching closely, the paper said.

John de Leon, the chapter president of the Greater Miami Chapter of the ACLU, said authorities went about the new plans the wrong way.
“Their focus this year is a mistake, and we’re looking very closely at the civil liberties and constitutional implications,” de Leon was quoted as saying.
Another ACLU representative asked why the new plans weren’t considered selective enforcement.
“There were people defecating on people’s dining room tables [during the first Urban Beach Week in 2001]. So on the events where people are defecating on the tables, we’re going to have a different approach than the events where they aren’t,” Commissioner Ed Tobin was quoted as saying.
Either way, the weekend party, which began in 2001, expects to bring large numbers to the beach – and city officials have their major events plan in place.
"Our city is very popular so we need to make sure when popular events happen here, our residents aren't impacted and we can get the flow of traffic and people are safe," Assistant City Manager Hilda Fernandez said.

A Sister's Accusation: An Onstage Confrontation

Today On Dr. Phil

May 15, 2012
Could you forgive someone, even under the most difficult circumstances? Ashley says she’s desperate to reconcile with her sister, Aliciea, who has refused to speak to her and their dying mother, Terri, for the last three years. Ashley and Terri say the bad blood began when they refused to believe that Ashley’s husband, Josh, molested Aliciea’s then 6-year-old daughter, Destiny. Aliciea says she’s angry that her family “threw her daughter away like trash” when they backed Josh, who was eventually convicted of the crime. Having vowed never to speak to them again, Aliciea reluctantly faces her mother and sister on Dr. Phil’s stage. Can Aliciea let go of her anger and let the healing process begin?

Do you think you have a hard time with letting things go?  If So, I think you should go out and pick up TD Jakes New Book "Let It GO Forgive So You Can Be Forgiven".  I am sure you will find some answers.

Royce Reed calls Tami Roman out | Welcome to S2Smagazine.com

Royce Reed calls Tami Roman out | Welcome to S2Smagazine.com

Royce Reed is calling out Tami Roman for her behavior in Tahiti.
Royce summed her opinion of the antics from Monday's "Basketball Wives" in three words: "A DAMN SHAME."
Tami doesn't feel that she's a bully, but Royce is among those who would argue that she was definitely picking a fight with Kesha Nichols on the latest episode of the show. It seemed like she just had something to say about everything that Kesha did (or didn't) do.
"I was honestly just hoping Kesha didn’t say her skin hurt. Tami seemed as though she was trying to find something to get upset about and she chose a cough," Royce said in her blog. "I’m not sure what happened to Tami, but this isn’t the woman I’ve gotten to know."
Royce said she knows exactly how Kesha must have felt because she found herself in the same position when the cast went to Spain. The dancer was not happy to see that things within the group dynamic hadn't changed much, although some of the players are new.
The most inexcusable thing about the whole trip to Royce was Tami's tirade against Kesha when everyone went out for drinks. She questions Tami's judgment for having even a single shot and using it as an excuse for her to just snap on the cast rookie.
"I find it amazing when alcohol is used as liquid courage and an excuse to turn into the HULK," said Royce, who admits that liquor makes her want to dance and get emotional. She argues that, as an adult, Tami should know how alcohol makes her act and steer clear of it despite what her friends are doing. "If you know that drinks cause you to have a temper, why indulge just because everyone else is? The whole scene with Tami and Kesha I shook my head."
And Royce feels that Tami's rage was misguided, contending that Kesha wasn't doing anything wrong by just trying to make conversation with her travel buddies. "Tami, if Evelyn [Lozada] and Shaunie [O'Neal] found no problem with Kesha’s questions, it wasn’t up to you to find one," said Royce, addressing Tami directly about the fight, which seemed to have come from out of nowhere.
Royce might seem like she's really going in on Tami, but she feels that she's doing what any good friend would do by telling Tami that her behavior was wrong. It's more than she said for either Shaunie or Evelyn.
"To see these women gang up on someone who has done nothing to them is embarrassing," Royce stated. "I say ganging up because NO ONE did anything to stop it. If you don’t say anything you then become part of the problem." She also took issue with the fact that Tami and Evelyn were mad at Kesha for having second thoughts about swimming with the sharks. "I don’t believe I saw any of your asses in a swimsuit jumping in the water either," Royce pointed out.
But the whole episode with Tazmanian Tami was just the cherry on top in a season of inappropriate behavior. Thinking back on it brought out Royce's less pleasant side as she spouted off about her gripes about what viewers have seen during this cycle. Frankly, she thinks it's a bad look.
"Grown as women talking about a damn position! Grown ass women wanting to fight with no repercussions!" she ranted. "I HEARD about what happened in Tahiti but seeing it now is an embarrassment and the sh!t is PISSING ME OFF!!!! GROWN ASS AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN feeding into the stereotype already placed on us…plus two!"

Today On Dr.Phil

Thomas Cogdell was 12 years old when he and his mother discovered his 11-year-old sister, Kaylee, dead, tied up on her bed. During the police investigation, Thomas was interrogated without his mother present for more than five hours and is seen on video telling authorities -- 36 times -- that he didn’t kill his sister. At one point during the interrogation, the recording stops and remains off for more than three hours. When it comes back on, Thomas confesses to the crime. What happened while the video recorder was turned off that made him change his story? Dr. Phil examines the murder confession that kept Thomas locked up in juvenile detention facilities for two years, until a judge threw out his confession on technical grounds, and authorities chose not to re-try him. Now 18, Thomas shares what he says he experienced on that fateful day. Was he coerced by police to confess to a crime he didn't commit? And, who does he think killed his sister? Plus, in a Dr. Phil exclusive, Thomas’ mother, Melody, gives her first interview since her daughter’s death. What did Thomas whisper to her in the police videotape? And how does she explain her current estrangement from her son? Don’t miss this compelling look at false confessions and justice gone wrong.
